There’s no question: Superhero films are no longer the safest bet in Hollywood. Every now and then, however, the creative minds at Marvel and DC manage to put together a comic book blockbuster that can delight the masses as if the hype had never been followed. The most recent example of this is Deadpool & Wolverine.
In July, the latest film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) hit the big screen and turned into a box office triumph at the box office. With a box office result of over $1.3 billion Deadpool & Wolverine is the most successful superhero film since Spider-Man: No Way Home.
It will appear on Disney+ in four days.
Deadpool & Wolverine on Disney+: Multiverse adventure with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman
Just like No Way Home, Deadpool & Wolverine benefits immensely from the multiverse gimmick of bringing back characters from old films not actually part of the MCU. With Spider-Man there were, among others, the Peter Parker variants of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield from the early Sony-Marvel films.
