Now NHL-qualified Rocco Grimaldi is very much in the news for moving to Sweden.
Where an SHL club singles out the forward as a dream signing this summer.
It has been a great success for Rocco Grimaldi during this year’s hockey World Cup. The 30-year-old is one of the USA’s best scorers with nine points after seven games played during the group stage.
Great success in the WC
NHL-qualified Grimaldi is also playing the tournament to secure his future and a new club address for the coming season. He is without a contract until the fall and can now leave North America for the first time in his career.

So far, there have been 203 games and 67 points in the NHL and an impressive 297 points in 361 games in the farm league AHL. Last season there was not a single NHL game and now Europe is beckoning with Sweden at the forefront.

Modo interested
Now there is a new SHL club in Modo that is very interested in picking up the WC success Grimaldi. Modo’s sports director Henrik Gradin is building a brand new impactful team for the return to the SHL and the American would be the pure dream signing for the squad.
– He is a player I have liked since he was 18 years old. Then I don’t know… We are interested in 15 players, but we will only bring in three or four anyway. He is definitely an interesting player, says Gradin to the local newspaper Örnsköldsviks Allehanda.

But if Grimaldi continues this scoring success in the WC, there will be quite a few clubs trying to sign him this summer. But it definitely feels like Modo is going to make a serious attempt.
– I have an iron eye on him. I think he would fit perfectly in European hockey, but for the sake of it, it does not mean that he will play in Modo Hockey, says sports manager Gradin in the interview.
