The essential

The final results of the 2022 legislative elections are revealed, while the 2nd round ended at 8 p.m. this Sunday, June 19. Together! suffers serious setbacks in some constituencies and Nupes seems far from the 200 elected. It is the National Rally which is doing well and is approaching the 90 elected officials. Here are the first estimates in number of seats according to Ipsos-Sopra-Steria for France Télévisions and Radio France:

  • Together ! : 224 deputies
  • Nupes: 149 deputies
  • RN: 89 deputies
  • LR / UDI: 78 deputies
  • Various left: 21 deputies
  • Miscellaneous / other: 12 deputies

The first estimates at the end of these 2022 legislative elections attempt to establish projections in the number of seats. These estimates, which are particularly reliable, are not polls and are based on the first counts. However, they may change in the hours to come.

Legislative elections are organized by direct universal suffrage, by a so-called “uninominal two-round majority” ballot, in 577 constituencies cutting across French territory. Each will send a deputy to the National Assembly for the next legislature. The first round of voting opposed just under 6,300 candidates on June 12, with 5 elected in the first round. The latter were to obtain an absolute majority (50% of the votes cast), but also to reach 25% of those registered (including abstainers) last Sunday. The two candidates who came first in the constituency could qualify for the second round as well as, in rare cases, a third if he had reached 12.5% of the registered voters. Seven triangular are thus organized this Sunday, June 19. This evening, when the results are announced, it is the candidate who comes first, without the required threshold, who will be elected deputy in each of the constituencies.
