After her breakthrough with The Big Bang Theory, Penny star Kaley Cuoco remains busy in the series business. In addition to her role in the 2 seasons of The Flight Attendant about a flight attendant with fatal memory lapses, she can also be seen in a series on ProSieben from today as a German free TV premiere radiates. In Based on a True Story, she is a true crime fanatic who wants to catch a serial killer.

Free TV premiere on ProSieben: That’s what Based on a True Story with Kaley Cuoco is about

In the comedy series, Cuoco plays Ava Bartlett, who loves true crime stories and serial killer myths. Her own private life, on the other hand, is overwhelming her. Her husband Nathan (Chris Messina) has just lost his job and the couple is about to have a baby.

When Ava finds out that A serial killer is on the loose in her neighborhood in Los Angeles, she wants to convict him. To do this, she starts a true crime podcast herself in order to invite the suspect as a guest and unmask him as part of the show.

The first season of Based on a True Story has a good average of 76 percent on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. In his review for The Telegraph, Jasper Rees gives it 4 out of 5 stars and writes, among other things:

The series, at its harshest, criticizes the amoral obsession with true crime – ‘the great American art form’, as it is called here. The mindlessness of Los Angeles and social media are an easier target, but are met mercilessly by a script played with reliable wit by the cast. When is Based on a True Story on TV?
