Youna “CodeMiko” Kang received the award for “Best Female VTuber” on Twitch at the 2022 Streamer Awards. The VTuber came up with something very special for her viewers for her last stream and went blank. Twitch banned her for the action.
What is a VTuber? VTubers usually use an anime-style avatar to represent their emotions and character. The avatar is the replacement of a normal facecam in the stream.
Who is the streamer?

CodeMiko presents itself as a naked homeless person – gets banned
What stream was that? In March, the VTuberin presented her avatar with new hair and stylish clothes – her fans mostly celebrated the change. Exactly this avatar she took off the new outfit completely and pixelated her breasts and the genital area.
Then she placed him in an alley and her viewers could throw garbage, money or bombs at the avatar in exchange for bits or start other actions.
If you want to see the entire stream, you can do so at archive.org. A Twitter user posted a screenshot of the stream:

What are bits? A bit is Twitch’s currency that you can purchase for real money. 100 bits cost 1.47 euros. For 11.75 euros, viewers could force the VTuber avatar to vomit, for example. The streamers then receive a share of the bits used.
What happened then? CodeMiko captioned their stream “CODEMIKO MAY GET BAN TODAY”. Apparently she knew she was outside the guidelines. And indeed, Twitch banned the streamer for the 4th time after the broadcast.
The VTuber fanned things out again on Twitter when she posted “Perma???”. But Twitch colleague JustaMinx and TwitchSpy explained in the answers that it was a temporary, 30-day ban.
Previously, CodeMiko received a ban for using the word “simp” in the live stream, which Twitch no longer allows on the platform.
What does Twitch’s policy say? Twitch does not allow sexually suggestive content from streamers. Nudity is part of it, of course, and VTuber avatars are no exception.
Streamer unbanned after just one day – Streamer stays offline
Update June 8, 10:47 a.m.: CodeMiko’s ban ended on June 7 at 10:03 p.m., according to the Streamerbans Twitter account. She was only banned for a day.
CodeMiko spoke up a few hours after her ban was lifted and said someone she considers family had gone into a coma. The life-support equipment will be switched off at dusk. The streamer needs time. The last few days have been tough.
One can now speculate whether the streamer’s behavior was deliberately aimed at a longer ban from Twitch because she wanted to take a break anyway.
