What is Alien – The scary creature from a strange world about?
The crew of the Nostromo responds to a call for help and discovers a mysterious stranded spaceship on an abandoned planet. Inside the wreckage, the crew comes across a giant skeleton and some slimy eggs. From these hatches what we now know all too well as a facehugger – an alien that lays eggs into its host through its neck.
It happens as it has to happen: a crew member of the Nostromo becomes the unwilling host for this space parasite. When the alien breaks out of the human’s chest, the full horror of this film unfolds: the crew of the Nostromo has to share their space cruiser with a bloodthirsty alien who is hunting them.

Which makes Alien the best sci-fi horror film of all time
A game of cat and mouse ensues in oppressive confines. What makes Alien so unique is the premise of being trapped in a small space with a nearly invincible monster. And there is no way out: the crew of the Nostromo cannot simply escape. Outside the walls of the spaceship, only the cold emptiness of space awaits, where, as we all know, no one can hear you scream.
The whole thing is rounded off by the alien’s profoundly evil design: acid flows in its veins and eats its way through everything. Even if the creature is injured, this injury represents a significant danger. Particularly, of course, when one is so dependent on the integrity of one’s own environment, as is the case on board a spaceship.
But everything else is right here: director Ridley Scott stages the absolutely terrifying horror of the alien with merciless harshness and dark precision. The unique look of the monster comes from the master of his craft HR Giger and is therefore unparalleled. Last, but not least, Sigourney Weaver shines in her role as the tough Ellen Ripley and inspired generations of heroines.
