The best Jason Statham film of the last 15 years

Many action fans will know Jason Statham from the Fast & Furious series. But he presented the calling card for his genre career more than 20 years ago in Guy Ritchie’s films (Snatch, Jack Queen King GrAs).

On stream he is now returning to his roots: Cash Truck is, according to Moviepilot ratings, his best film in the last 15 years. And there are good reasons for that.

Jason Statham’s return to action: That’s what Cash Truck is all about

Cash Truck takes no prisoners: In the form of the taciturn H, Jason Statham joins a cash transport company. What exactly his goals are is not entirely clear at first – but his abilities soon become undisputed. Because the first attack on the vehicle he wipes out an entire group of bandits in cold blood.

A normal Tuesday for Jason Statham

As it turns out, H has very personal motives for mingling with security guards like Bullet (Holt McCallany) or Boy Sweat (Josh Hartnett). Soon the man with no identity leaves a bloody trail of revenge across the city.

Cash Truck is the best Jason Statham movie in 15 years

Statham teamed up with director Ritchie again for the revenge epic. However, the return to the cinema of the dynamic British duo opens a new chapter in both careers: Ritchie has pushed aside his love for the laid-back petty criminal at Cash Truck and delivered a tough, well-crafted action film that is more reminiscent of Heat or Sicario than of his last work The Gentlemen.

The best films with Jason Statham according to the Moviepilot rating:

In general, Cash Truck is the 6th best film with Jason Statham, although he doesn’t star in all of the films listed.

Cash Truck strikes where Fast & Furious flies around

Compared to such impressively staged revenge action, Statham’s last Fast & Furious appearances look like an allotment BBQ. What many criticized about the last parts of the action series is simply not a problem for Cash Truck: Instead of plastering viewers with CGI, the film focuses on great, tactfully implemented, handmade action scenes.

Statham hasn’t been seen so brutally in a long time: Gone are the days of family-friendly Fast & Furious episodes in which his character Shaw was sometimes an enemy, sometimes a friend. In Cash Truck he is an enemy and wants to kill.
