The twist of Peele’s directorial debut will not be revealed here. Just this much: It is as scary as it is satirical, as effective as it is ambiguous, an individual horror film as well as a political punch to the gut. Some moments are so exaggerated that viewers will cry tears of laughter. And five seconds later They dig their fingers into the armrests of their chairs out of sheer horror.

Get Out was nominated for a total of four Oscars at the 2018 Oscars, and Peele ultimately won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Since then, he has evidently taken a liking to the horror genre: he also directed Us and Nope.
