While the first eight Hogwarts films are about the adventures of Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and their battle against Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), Fantastic Beasts tells a backstory, with the new main character Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). This is also about the later magic school director Dumbledore (Jude Law) and the magician Grindelwald (Johnny Depp / Mads Mikkelsen), who is feared in the magical society.

Although two more films from the Fantastic Beasts series were originally planned, things are not going well for them: Instead, the focus should be entirely on the reboot of Harry Potter as a series, while the theater sequel “Harry Potter and the enchanted child” was discussed as a possible sequel. The previous Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe will no longer play a role.
