23-year-old midlaner Felix “Abbedagge” Braun has not had a good month in League of Legends: first he caught Covid, then he was lacklusterly kicked out at the 2022 LoL World Championship with his team 100 Thieves. Ultimately, his team replaced him with the 3-year-old Dane Bjergsen. Now the former Schalke player returns to Europe, but only on the bench with a midfield team in the LEC. The problem: The LEC spring MVP plays in the midlane there.
Abbedagge was still doing so well in 2021:
Then what went wrong? Nothing at all with Abbedagge: He also played a good season in 2022, was statistically, according to the value “KDA”, the second best midlaner in the USA in the summer, only Bjergsen was better.
But 100 Thieves failed to win another championship and fell lacklusterly at the Worlds – like all US teams.
Abbedagge hit the World Cup particularly hard, catching Covid and suffering from Long Covid.
But the hard awakening came after the Worlds: Abbedagge was suddenly replaced at 100 Thieves by the much older Bjergsen and was suddenly without a club. He became a “McDonalds” player, as he puts it. So someone who earns his money at McDonalds at the checkout.
LoL: The best player in Germany (22) will probably be thrown out of his team – because an old Swede wants his job back
Abbedagge joins the team with the MVP in the mid lane
Abbedagge is doing that now: The 23-year-old probably didn’t manage to find a “real team” for 2022. He is now, according to credible reports, moving back to Europe and becoming a substitute for Excel Esports who finished sixth in the LEC in 2022.
The British team plays with the young Frenchman Vetheo, of all people, one of the few midlaners (20) who are even younger than Abbeddage and who are considered quite competent. He even became MVP in the spring. The question is whether Addebagge can earn a regular place in England and whether he even wants that.
According to reports, he should have the opportunity to look for a new team at Excel Esports. So if there’s a crisis somewhere after the start of the season, that could be the opportunity for the 23-year-old.
The best German pro players in LoL have a problem right now, they are being replaced by older Scandinavians:
LoL: Two of the best German pros are without a team right now – number 3 will probably get it too
