It has been almost 20 years since a blond, British comic book anti-hero was brought to the screen as a heavily American version in the form of Keanu Reeves. But even after all these years, the result is probably the best adaptation of its source material – and still leaves fans impatiently hoping for part 2.
Constantine has not made it to the big screen this dirty, this tired, this fitting since 2005. Keanu Reeves is the linchpin of a devilish horror fantasy that is still unparalleled. While the Fate of the sequel remains uncertain, you can at least stream the original on Netflix.
At Netflix, Keanu Reeves is drawn into deadly investigations between heaven and hell
Actually, John Constantine (Reeves) should no longer walk the earth. His gift of being able to see angels and demons has weighed heavily on his soul since childhood. When he decided to take his own life many years ago, the big masterminds didn’t let him go so easily. In the meantime, he works as a Exorcist, demon hunter and detective.
In doing so, Archangel Gabriel (Tilda Swinton) as a representative of heaven always keeps a watchful eye on John. He has no idea what he is slipping into when police officer Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) contacts him and asks for his help.
