“The best dance performances I’ve seen in 18 years”

We saw two of the best dance performances I’ve seen in 18 years performed in yesterday’s duel which resulted in Tone Sekelius being eliminated from the competition. I would have liked to have kept her because I think she had a lot more to give. But damn it, if Tone had stayed, we would have lost Johanna Lind Bagge, and I don’t want to lose her either.

“Bored as hell”

We have reached the point where I can honestly say: Everyone is good. Everyone is talented. Everyone has feelings. All have evolved. Everything is reasonably calm and tidy. And I’m bored as hell. Now I want to give everyone a real fucking kick in the ass.

My message is clear to the five couples that remain: you are too even and too similar and it will be too boring. You look like you all came out of the same factory, just as if we were to see five cars of the same make racing side by side and the only difference is that they happen to be painted in different colors.

I’ve been forgiving in my judgment these past few weeks because the challenges have forced you to focus on dizzying changes and emotionally charged characters.

Starting next week, we’re returning to the classic couple dances with a Disney theme. In order to survive, I require you to further develop the skills you have learned to convey emotion and portray a role.

Difficult to hold back tears when Rickard Sjöberg pays tribute to his late friend

“No more Mr. Nice Guy”

But – and it’s a bloody big but – I want technology from head to toe. Emphasis in the music so that every beat is visible in your body, so that if I were to turn off the music and you continue to move, it will be clear that the music is still in you. I demand that you and your partner move together and in sync with each other.

But please, give me more than the predictable! I miss the excitement you had in the beginning when everything was new, fresh and daring. I know you all have the ingredients to dance a choreography. Being able to do a choreography does not make you a dancer. Everyone can learn to dance but few can be dancers. Now is the time to accept the challenge and dare to become a dancer who combines brain, body and soul.

It’s not my responsibility to like you. And you have no right to my points. If you don’t feel my kick in the ass and dare to be unique and different from your competitors, you deserve to go out. I can no longer look between my fingers for small mistakes. No more Mr Nice Guy.
