“The best change in years” – Escape from Tarkov makes drastic changes and players love it

Escape from Tarkov fulfilled a big wish for its players with the latest update and brought a change that they had been waiting for for a long time.

What change is it about? In Escape from Tarkov (EFT) there was another wipe on December 27, 2023, which resets all players’ progress at regular intervals. The wipe also came with an update that brought new content and some changes to the game.

Among these changes was an overhaul of the recoil in Escape from Tarkov. The recoil of the individual weapons has long been a thorn in the side of fans of the shooter. They are now all the happier that developer Battlestate Games has finally made a change.

What does the recoil change do? Battlestate Games has published the patch notes for update 0.14.0.0 on the official Escape from Tarkov website. The changes to the recoil are also listed there (via escapefromtarkov.com).

The patch notes say:

  • “The recoil mechanic has been improved to make it more realistic and enjoyable for players. Particular attention was paid to improving the feel of shooting with semi-automatic and short bursts.”
  • “The new recoil mechanic now includes a variety of flexible settings that allow for balance adjustment based on analytics data and player feedback.”
  • “All weapon recoil parameters have been rebalanced.”

    What do the players say about the changes? Escape from Tarkov players love the change in recoil, as many were dissatisfied with the old system. Several players also write that they are now returning to EFT after a long break.
