The best action movie starring Jason Statham that continued even

Jason Statham no longer has to prove to anyone that he is one of the best action stars of our time. For over two decades he has been delivering one hit after another. Even if the films aren’t great: Statham brings a robust presence, which cannot be avoided. But which is his best action film?

When we look around his filmography, one film in particular stands out: Crank from 2006. Shot on a shoestring budget of $12 million, the film sparked a fire because of its adrenaline-charged, unrestrained production a quick hype. You can watch it on TV tonight.

Jason Statham’s best action film: In Crank we experience a completely absurd (and very funny) fight for survival

In Crank, Statham takes on the role of hitman Chev Chelios, who is poisoned by a competitor. In order to survive, he needs his adrenaline levels kept at an extremely high level
– the perfect template for a brutal campaign of revenge, which features several incredible action scenes.

Behind Crank is the directing duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who also directed the restless sci-fi actioner Gamer with Gerard Butler in 2009. That same year, Neveldine and Taylor returned to their breakthrough film and gave Chev Chelios a second chapter, which even more absurd is: Crank 2: High Voltage.

Danger, spoiler!

Based on the ending of the first film, this wasn’t a given. For a moment it looks like Statham’s protagonist would die when he got out of a helicopter falls several hundred meters into the depths and hits first a car and then the hard concrete. Only at the very last second do the eyes, ears and nostrils twitch. This Chev Chelios is really a tough guy.
