Pirates of the Caribbean was a wild ride and for a long time the series was a guarantee of bringing huge amounts of money into the coffers. But with Part 4 aka Pirates of the Caribbean – On Stranger Tides, the impression became more and more solid that a franchise was being milked here. If you want to see for yourself what this looks like, you can now watch the film with a streaming subscription on Disney+.
Big adventure film in the stream: That’s what Pirates of the Caribbean 4 aka Pirates of the Caribbean – On Stranger Tides is all about
This time, the titular pirates of the Caribbean unfortunately have to make do without Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley). Instead, an old acquaintance of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) appears again, for whom the warhorse has a real weakness. However, this woman is not just any runaway buccaneer; Daughter of the legendary villain Blackbeard (Ian McShane).
Jack Sparrow is actually looking for the no less legendary one Source of eternal youth. The secret of immortality is said to be hidden there. But Sparrow isn’t the only pirate aiming for the source of eternal youth. Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) also sets off for an enemy party to that mysterious place, if it really exists.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 was an extremely successful pirate adventure, but not particularly popular
In direct comparison to many other parts of the series, Pirates of the Caribbean performs extremely well when we look at the box office results. Overall, the flick is coming along $1.04 billion at the box office. That only beats Pirates of the Caribbean 2 with 1.06 billion. All other franchise films have remained under the billion (via Box Office Mojo).
Nevertheless, it is noticeable here that the first Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy by Gore Verbinski has been completed and it is probably more about money than ever. Lies Pirates of the Caribbean 3 in the Moviepilot reviews still at a value of 7.1, part 4 is already at a much lower 6.7. Part 5 will then only come to 6.1 and we are waiting until today for the sixth part.
