The beautiful detail of Sven-Göran Eriksson’s funeral that warms

Sven-Göran Eriksson has been taken to his final rest.
On Friday, the Swedish coaching icon was buried at home in Torsby.
Now the beautiful detail of “Svennis” is celebrated during the ceremony.

During Friday, 150 invited guests and over 600 seats filled by the public gathered to say goodbye to Sven-Göran Eriksson. The 76-year-old who passed away a few weeks ago has now been taken to his final rest after an emotional ceremony in Fryksände church in Torsby.

During the funeral, many football figures had gathered, including the English legend David Beckhamand several fine speeches were given.
– We have many fond memories of Sven-Göran. Memories to share with each other and memories to keep deep in one’s own heart, said the priest Ingela Älvskog to all gathered.
– He gave people a chance and was very respectful. Despite the illness, Sven-Göran’s final days were full of life. He has received tributes from many different places around the world while he was alive and was able to meet all the tributes and all the love on the spot. And there are many of you who carry his work as a coach in your heart.

Several hymns and songs were also performed, including the Italian “Volare” and Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”. Also Elton Johns classic “Candle in the wind” had been remade with a very beautiful tribute to “Svennis”.

Beautiful tribute

Instead of the words “and your footsteps will always fall here along England’s greenest hills” the singer sang Charlotte Birgersson instead “your foot steps will always fall here on Fryken’s greenest hill”.

Sven-Göran Eriksson has often spoken warmly of lake Fryken, just outside his manor in Torsby.
– I have always thought it was a good place to sleep. My ashes can be thrown into the water here, Svennis said before his death.
