It has been three days since the Swedish people were shaken by the terrible act of terrorism in Brussels. When two Swedish football supporters were shot dead in connection with Sweden’s European Championship qualifier against Belgium on Monday evening.
The SHL honors tonight
Since then, Swedish sports have been united in grief and several initiatives have taken place in recent days to show their support and take up the fight against terror. On Wednesday evening, minutes of silence were held during the matches in the HockeyAllsvenskan and now the SHL is also taking action.

On Thursday evening, it is a full round in the SHL and then the Swedish victims will be honored with a minute’s silence in all arenas before relegation.
“Thursday’s SHL matches are preceded by a minute’s silence in honor of the people who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Brussels on Monday. The sports family is in mourning and the SHL’s thoughts go mainly to those affected and their families and friends. The silent minute will be held in connection with the matches on Thursday, October 19,” the SHL writes on its official website.
“United against terror”
Several supporter associations have also taken beautiful initiatives to honor the departed and show their blue-yellow support in the stands. Both Linköping and Växjö have already acted with beautiful calls that are now spreading throughout hockey Sweden.

The supporters’ associations appeal to everyone to come to the hockey matches wearing Sweden jerseys to color the stands blue-yellow.
“United against terror. Due to the events in Brussels on Monday, Tifo Lincopia urges all supporters who will be in the Saab arena during Thursday’s match against Frölunda to wear a Sweden shirt, alternatively in another blue and yellow garment. This is to show sympathy for the victims of terror, and their loved ones,” writes the LHC supporters’ association Tifo Lincopia on X, formerly Twitter.
