“The Beaten” by Louis Witter, in the hell of Calais

Photojournalist Louis Witter spent 18 months near Calais with exiles waiting to cross the 30 kilometers of sea that separate France from England, the last stage of their migratory route. Through his lens, it is the violent political and police strategy, put in place by the French authorities to deal with immigration, that he wished to highlight. But since the photos do not tell everything, he put his story on paper. His first book, The beatwas published by Editions du Seuil.
