The DC Universe has been shaken up lately with the arrival of James Gunn and Peter Safran as new film executives. While the duo’s big plan has still not been revealed, parts of the comic book blockbuster forge are said to remain untouched by the two. This includes The Batman by Matt Reeves, from which a larger DC universe of its own should arise.

Even though development has quieted down after the announcement of The Batman 2, Reeves now has one positive update delivered.

The Batman 2 will avoid well-known Batman mistakes

In the current Collider interview, the director confirmed that he is currently working on The Batman 2. All that’s known so far is that Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne. As Reeves also revealed to Collider, the traumatized man behind the Dark Knight continues to take center stage stand in line:

For me, what I really feel is that I also believe that Rob [Pattinson] is so special in the role. My goal has always been to do those point-of-view stories that allow the character to always the emotional center of the story to be.Because often after you’ve done the first thing that suddenly suddenly happens other evil characters come and they kind of take overand then Batman takes a back seat in character or emotionally.

It has often been the case in the past for Batman to appear in his own films outshone by the villains would. The most famous example is The Dark Knight, which always talks about Heath Ledger as the joker first.

The last DCEU film with Batman was also a crossover. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also ensured that the torn hero share the screen with Henry Cavill’s beloved character had to.

The Batman 2 will not repeat this big Batman mistake and will focus fully on Pattinson’s version of Bruce Wayne. When will the DC sequel hit theaters?has not yet been determined.
