The sequel to The Batman was quickly decided. After the dark superhero film starring Robert Pattinson became one of the best representatives of the genre in March 2022 and brought more than 770 million US dollars into the box office worldwide, Warner Bros. gave Part 2 the green light.
The Batman Part II was originally scheduled to hit theaters in October 2025. However, it didn’t take long to realize that this launch date wasn’t realistic. October 2026 was then set as the new time frame. As it turns out, even that timing was overly optimistic.
The Batman 2 with Robert Pattinson won’t be released until 2027
As the Hollywood Reporter reports, Warner Bros. has pushed back the hotly anticipated comic book blockbuster by another year. The Batman Part II only starts now October 1, 2027 in the USA in cinemas. A new German start has not yet been determined. However, it can be assumed that this will take place soon.

Based on the latest developments, The Batman Part II will not begin filming until the third quarter of 2025. It has already become clear in the past few weeks that the DC sequel is behind schedule, especially with regard to the script, of which there apparently is no complete version yet.
The fact that Warner is generously pushing back the start by another year may at first glance be a big disappointment for many DC fans. Ultimately, the studio gives director Matt Reeves and his team enough time to deliver a decent film, which is created without any time pressure.
No time pressure with The Batman 2 – that’s a good sign
In recent years we have seen time and again that multi-million dollar blockbusters were rushed across the finish line in order to meet a predetermined release date. This often had an impact on the quality of the films. With The Batman, Warner obviously knows the value of the project.
As a little consolation we got The Penguin this year. The DC series acts as a bridge between the two Batman films starring Pattinson and focuses on the villain Oswald “Oz” Cobb, played by Colin Farrell. After Carmine Falcone’s death, he takes control of Gotham’s underworld.
And if we take a step out of Gotham and the Batman Epic Crime Saga come out, the next big DC highlight will be in the cinema in half a year: The Superman film with David Corenswet lays the foundation for the new DC universe, which is being built by director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran.
