“Using all possible means to make housing more affordable for Canadians, the ban on foreign ownership, which currently expires on January 1, 2025, will be extended until January 1, 2027,” Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said in a statement.
The Canadian government has announced that housing sales to foreigners have increased concerns about rising prices in housing markets in cities and towns across the country. Last month, it was announced that international student permits would be limited for two years due to the housing crisis in Canada, and it was stated that some students would not be given a work permit after graduation.
On the other hand, the law in question was first implemented as of January 2023.
