The Baltic countries promised new support to Ukraine Zelenskyi

Estonia will support Ukraine by 2027 with a total of 1.2 billion euros, President Alar Karis announced on Thursday. Lithuania also announced a support package of 200 million euros.

– Their production capacity cannot keep up with the battles. If we agree on a ceasefire, they can use it to gain superiority, Zelenskyi stressed.

Karis also assured that the ceasefire talks will be left to their own merits.

– We will sit at the negotiating table when Ukraine has won the war. And Ukraine will decide when the war is won, Karis said.

No restrictions on weaponry

According to Karis, Estonia plans to support Ukraine with a total of 1.2 billion euros by 2027.

The president also demands the rest of Europe to increase its support and the production of military equipment. Estonia has committed to spend 0.25 percent of its defense spending in 2024–2027 to support Ukraine.

Alar Karis urged other countries to do the same.

– Ukraine needs better weapons and Ukraine must get what it needs. And not tomorrow, but today, Karis stated.

According to him, there should not be any reservations regarding the armament provided to Ukraine.

– In a war, it is inevitable to also attack military targets located in the territory of the aggressor state, Karis said.

The President of Ukraine will also meet the Prime Minister in Estonia Kaja Kallasen and gives a speech in the Riigikogu, the Estonian Parliament.

Ammunition, wagons and training from Lithuania

Zelenskyi started his Baltic visit from Lithuania, where he, among other things, spoke to the crowd in the capital Vilnius.

President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda assured on Wednesday that also Lithuania continues to be solid support for Ukraine.

Lithuania’s Security Council approved the latest EUR 200 million support package during Zelensky’s visit.

– We will send ammunition, generators and explosive systems in January and M577 armored personnel carriers in February, Nausėda promised.

Lithuania also continues to train Ukrainian soldiers.
