Employed black labor

A few days ago, it became clear that the product manager for Bake My Day had been convicted of violating the Aliens Act.

In the judgment from the Södertörn district court, which Nyheter24 has seen, it is stated that the product manager Daniel Granholm was convicted of violating the Aliens Act at the end of February 2024.

He allegedly hired staff for Bake My Day who lacked the prescribed work permit and did not have the right to stay in Sweden.

Convicted of a crime against the Aliens Act

Daniel Granholm was sentenced to 30 daily fines of SEK 730, i.e. a total of SEK 21,900, and Bake My Day AB is forced to pay SEK 96,600 to the state as a special fee according to ch. 20. Section 12 of the Aliens Act (2005:716).

In an interrogation with the police, Daniel Granholm states, among other things, that he was careless in the employment and did not check whether the staff had the right to hold an employment. Bake My Day AB has not submitted any answer to the district court about the situation.

Considered to have been negligent

In the judgment, the Södertörn district court writes that it is clear that Daniel Granholm did not carry out the checks required of a careful employer before the employment contract was entered into, which means that he is convicted of a negligent violation of the Aliens Act.

In a comment to Nyheter24, Daniel Granholm says that the payroll office simply failed to check the employee’s status.

– The crime is that we had a person employed where the payroll office failed to check his status. We have approximately 180 employees. As a production manager, I sign the employment contract, which resulted in the judgment.

In the future, Bake My Day will have more careful checks to ensure that the same mistake is not repeated.

– We have a solid control at each employment, but of course this results in even more control stations, says Daniel Granholm to Nyheter24.
