The victim was found in a bag lying in the terrain along a road in southern Gustavsberg on Värmdö on Sunday.
According to the prosecutor, the body was seriously damaged but “fairly intact” and not dismembered, as previously reported by TV4 and several other media.
A 19-year-old man is under arrest on suspicion of murder and grave breach of privacy.
At the same time, a couple, a 24-year-old woman and the detainee’s 23-year-old older brother, are detained in their absence and are being chased by the police. They are suspected of having fled the country, according to information given to TV4 Nyheterna.
Last sign of life on Thursday
The murdered man, who was in his 35s, had contact with relatives on March 7. It is the last sign of life.
When no one subsequently found him, he was reported missing on March 9 and the police opened a preliminary investigation into kidnapping. The next day he was found dead in the bag.
Police homicide investigators are now working to establish the motive for the brutal crime. According to information given to TV4 Nyheterna, there is a theory that the victim was murdered because he is suspected of having committed a crime against the now wanted and hunted woman.
The murder theory: Suspected rape revenge
The 24-year-old woman reported the murder victim to the police at the beginning of February this year on suspicion of three cases of rape and one assault. Several of the alleged crimes must have taken place in the man’s apartment. After the report, he was arrested by the police but released after questioning and was still a suspect in the case.
The woman then applied for a contact ban against the man, but was refused by the prosecutor. TV4 Nyheterna has spoken to the prosecutor, who does not want to comment on the case at all.
– I have nothing to say, it is confidential, says chief prosecutor Peter Claeson.
Nor does the lawyer that the murder victim received in connection with the arrest want to comment. The plaintiff’s counsel that the woman received in the rape and assault case has not been reached.
By Friday at the latest, the prosecutor, who TV4 Nyheterna searched for in vain, in the murder investigation at Värmdö must request the 19-year-old be remanded in custody. The police hunt for the wanted couple continues.
