Ducking all sources of bacteria and dirt throughout life is impossible, and in many cases “a little shit” can clear the stomach after all.
What many people don’t know is that even your home can become a breeding ground for a large amount of bacteria. Here you can read more about a large bacteria trap in your bedroom – which is dirtier than a toilet seat.
Hidden germ trap in restaurants
Even among the more general surfaces, there are hidden spots on the bacteria front, for example in restaurants. There, toilets, ketchup bottles and ice containers can be full of dirt.
But what many people don’t know is that even the menus are home to large amounts of bacteria. They are used by pretty much all visitors, and as a rule are not cleaned between guests. It shows one study as Paul Dawsonfood scientist and professor at Clemson University made.
Study shows: The menus are dirtier than the toilets
Studies such as Cleaning & Maintenance Management, CMMtaken note of shows that menus in restaurants can have up to 185,000 bacteria per square centimeter – significantly more than in the toilets.
The dirtiest are the plastic menus. Liquids cannot sink in there, but remain on the surface of the menus for significantly longer.

The good news in this context is that the majority of the bacteria that Dawson and his research team located on the menus are harmless.
When they contaminated menus with E.coli bacteria, only 11 percent of these made it to diners’ hands. Furthermore, only a small percentage of bacteria survived longer than one to two days.
To CNN says Donald Schaffnera food biologist at Rutgers University, that he rarely hears of people getting sick from restaurant bacteria.
– But people must be aware of the problem and evaluate their risk level based on the situation, he says.
