The author Ing-Marie Eriksson Has passed away, 92 years old, her publisher announces. Eriksson was a native of Sikås in Jämtland where her most famous work, the debut novel “Märit”, took place.

Eriksson was indicted and sentenced in 1967 for gross slander for the book – the only novel in Sweden that was dropped in a freedom of the press.

The same year she was awarded the magazine Vis Literature Prize.

She has published about ten novels, of which the latest, “When the chestnuts bloom in Paris”, came in 2004.
