The attention surrounding the submarine: “A moment of excitement that captivates the world”

Many have questioned why the Titan has received so much media attention, comparing the incident to the refugee boat that capsized as recently as last week, in which hundreds were injured and killed. But that didn’t get the same attention.

– Unfortunately, news logic is like that. It is difficult to compare one event to another and this is an unusual event that we have not experienced before, says Thomas Mattsson.

The disappearance of Titan has been picked up by both newspapers and TV channels and at the same time has been widely spread on social media.

– That a number of very rich people pay several million kroner to sit in a very small underwater craft, where you can’t even stand up and which is controlled by a control taken from a video game. Exposing yourself to those risks, I think, is a moment of tension that captivates the world.
