Henrik Olsson Lilja is one of Sweden’s most prominent defense lawyers.
Olsson Lilja graduated from Stockholm University in 1993 and has since worked as a lawyer. Between the years 1994 and 2018, he worked at Peter Althin’s law firm, according to Olsson Lilja Advokater’s websitea law firm he co-founded and the firm where he operates today.
In 2024, he had the third highest compensation from taxpayers of all public defenders in Sweden. At that time, his total compensation, excluding VAT, was a whopping SEK 8,493,599.

On September 6, 2019, Henrik Olsson Lilja was shot in the stairwell outside his apartment. The shot hit him in the chest, just below the heart.
In an interview with Akavia Aspekt, Olsson Lilja talks about what was going through her head.
– It was as if the thoughts were going in two tracks in my head during these minutes. Partly, I thought about how I should act: If I could attack him, if there was someone else there. Partly, I thought about my family. Now I’m going to die at any moment, I thought.
Henrik Olsson Lilja managed to get help quickly and survived the assassination attempt.
– I was lucky. It’s as close to death as you can get, he told her the newspaper when.

What was the punishment for the top lawyer after the attempted murder of Henrik Olsson Lilja?
In April 2020, a man was sentenced for the attempted murder of Henrik Olsson Lilja. At the same time, a former top lawyer was suspected of having ordered the attack.
Among other things, she underwent a forensic psychiatric examination which showed that she did not suffer from any serious mental disorder and was sentenced to 14 years in prison for inciting attempted murder in January 2021. She and Olsson Lilja are said to have had a long-term conflict.

Another man was also sentenced to six years in prison for aiding and abetting attempted murder. He is said to have acted as an intermediary between the top lawyer and the man who shot Olsson Lilja.
According to The Express should he, among other things, forward information about Olsson Lilja’s whereabouts from the top lawyer to the man who shot and spied along with the latter.

The man who shot Henrik Olsson Lilja was previously convicted of a bank robbery. He was commissioned by a former top lawyer and she too was convicted.

In an interview about the attempted murder with Aftonbladet, Henrik Olsson Lilja said that his thoughts quickly turned to his family and his children.
– When I woke up after the operation, I learned that my son had seen a news story that a well-known lawyer had been shot on Kungsholmen. He ran home and managed to force the barriers, Olsson Lilja told the newspaper then, and continued:
– My daughter was at school when she found out. She thought I had died.
