The attacking star eased his suspension by promising the security

Wolverhampton’s Matheus Cunha was banned for two matches.

Brazilian striker of Wolverhampton, who plays in the English Premier League Matheus Cunha received a two-game ban on Tuesday instead of a minimum three-match penalty.

Cunha received his punishment for a clash with Ipswich security after the Ipswich match on 14 December. In the scene, one of the security guards broke his glasses.

According to the Disciplinary Board, the suspension is normally at least three matches for similar actions, but in Cunha’s case it ended up with a milder punishment.

The board justified the shorter-than-normal suspension by, among other things, the fact that Cunha has promised to buy new glasses for the security guard in question. Mitigating factors were also that Cunha has no previous disciplinary history and that he admitted the accusations and quickly apologized.

The facts in question also reduced the fine imposed on Cunha from 120,000 pounds to 80,000 pounds, that is, from almost 145,000 euros to more than 96,000 euros.

Cunha, who played 11 matches for the Brazilian men’s national team, has been a really important player for Wolverhampton, who are fighting for their place in the league, this season. He has scored ten goals in his 19 league matches of the season.
