the Assembly adopts an extension – L’Express

how to tell yourself what to eat instead of paying

The decision of the deputies was eagerly awaited. The National Assembly adopted, Thursday, November 23, an extension until the end of 2024 of the use of meal vouchers for food shopping.

Meal vouchers are used today by more than 5 million employees to pay for meals or food services with some 234,000 approved merchants.

The law introduced in 2022 the possibility of purchasing non-directly consumable food products (flour, pasta, rice, eggs, fish, meat, etc.) in supermarkets with meal vouchers, an exemption which was to end on December 31 2023.

But faced with the outcry caused by the end of the system, Bercy announced its wish to extend it in 2024, or even make it permanent.
