According to the information provided by the police, UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was the target of an armed attack while entering the hotel where he came for a conference in Manhattan in the morning. The attack took place at the entrance of a hotel on 54th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues in Midtown Manhattan.
HE SHOT HIS CHEST MANY TIMES
The armed attacker, who was said to be masked and waiting in ambush, shot Thompson repeatedly in the chest at the hotel entrance and fled the scene, first running and then riding a bicycle.
Thompson, who was urgently taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, was pronounced dead.
HE LOST TRACK BY FLYING TO CENTRAL PARK
After the incident took place in the Manhattan peninsula, one of the crowded places of New York, the police determined the suspect’s escape route with security camera footage.
Authorities evaluated that the attacker wanted to hide his trace by escaping to Central Park, one of the city’s most touristic and busy spots.
HE WAS THE CEO OF THE COMPANY FOR 3 YEARS
Based on eyewitnesses, police reported that the attacker was a white male wearing a mask and that the investigation was ongoing.
