The murder video is filmed from the perspective of the shooter and occasionally shows the gun being used.
According to a weapons expert source whom SVT asked to watch the film, the gun is most likely an American Springfield manufactured by the arms manufacturer HS in Croatia.
Especially American weapons are unusual in fatal shootings in the gang criminal environment.
– The US is sometimes a source of parts for weapons. But it is not so common that we see weapons that were originally on the American market as complete weapons and then ended up in Sweden, says Jesper Liedholm, weapons expert at the Swedish Customs Service.
Copies are made in illegal weapons factories
On the occasions that customs and the police have been able to confiscate Springfield pistols, they have been pirated copies. They are manufactured in illegal weapons factories in Europe and they have a large-scale and advanced manufacturing.
On the first of December 2022, customs made a seizure on the Öresund Bridge where a man and a woman tried to smuggle in eleven HS pistols and four Springfield variants. All were well made and fully functional pirated copies that were even given unique serial numbers.
– When we then started digging into this, it turned out that similar weapons have appeared elsewhere in Europe, says Jesper Liedholm.
According to the customs’ weapons expert, the current murder weapon in Norrköping is probably such a forgery.
