After 25 years of waiting and work, artist Mikael Genberg’s 3D-printed red house is finally on its way to the moon.
The house is aboard one of the lunar landers that launched with the Space X Falcon 9 rocket on Wednesday morning.
The sculptor Peter Johansson also devotes himself to Swedish national symbols, not infrequently from Dalarna, but deconstructs and destroys them rather than elevating them to heavenly bodies.
– I try to destroy red houses. But I have full respect for him. He is wonderful!, he says.
“I’m in love”
It is the realization of a seemingly impossible vision that impresses Peter Johansson.
– It’s absolutely fantastic! I’m in love. When you were young and wanted to try your luck as an artist, you had lots of dreams and visions. But then it stops. Mikael Genberg comes up with an idea, takes it far and manages to implement it!, he says.
Peter Johansson thinks that Mikael Genberg, through the project, has made himself “the now foremost Swedish artist”.
– This cannot be broken. If I could do something, I would send someone up who could blow up the house – so that there was a continuation, he says.
