Following several breaches of regulations, the Normandy Regional Health Agency has decided to place a dental practice in Veules-les-Roses on notice. Patients risk infection.

It’s a chilling scandal. In Veules-les-Roses, a dental practice paid little attention to the quality and safety of the care provided to patients. Result: they risk potential infections.

    “Breakings of hygiene rules”

It was during a simple control operation, the objective of which was “to assess the quality of care and compliance with standards and good hygiene practices“, that the ARS Normandie has noted various breaches of regulations, within the dental practice, relating in particular to “hygiene rules“.

Faced with this situation, corrective measures were immediately requested“, indicates ARS Normandie in a press release.

The agency asked the dental office to recall patients “who were invited by mail to go to their GP for serological screening“.

Following these shortcomings, patients present serious infectious risks.

It exists “a low risk of transmission for the virusHepatitis B (HBV) and very low for hepatitis C virus (HCV) and HIV“, warns ARS Normandy, which is based on a report carried out jointly by the Regional Coordination Committee for the fight against sexually transmitted infections and the human immunodeficiency virus (Corevih), the Support Center for prevention of healthcare-associated infections (CPIAS Normandy) and Public Health France.

    The firm put on notice

To prevent contamination of other patients, the ARS immediately put the practice on notice.

The dental center had to put in place “corrective actions hasin order to remedy the dysfunctions observed“. A counter-inspection visit also “been conducted at the end of January 2024“.

Patients: what to do about these infectious risks?

According to the recommendations of the ARS, all patients in the dental office must consult their attending physician quickly.so that the latter can provide appropriate medical information and prescribe appropriate screening tests“.

As for treating doctors, dental surgeons and laboratories, they were informed of this news in advance by the ARS.in order to ensure good information for all stakeholders concerned“, concludes the press release.
