According to our information, the first bomber was neutralized at the end of last December in Bako Maka, the second, on January 18 in Guéné, 4 days ago, more than 700 kilometers north of Cotonou, on the Niger border.
The two bombers had been actively sought since the death of two soldiers whose motorcycle exploded on an IED on December 13. They were strongly suspected of being the perpetrators. Information would have made it possible to locate and neutralize them.
In its response plan, the government announced exceptional recruitment in several stages of 5,000 young people. The operation began with 3,500 initial recruits. 2,000 are already operational and being deployed to theaters in the north.
The rest will complete additional training in a few weeks and will join Operation Mirador like the first. They are engaged for a five-year contract within the Defense and Security Forces.
There will remain a final wave of 1,500 young people to recruit to reach the number of 5,000 men. It will be organized in a few months.
