The Army is planning a great preparedness test: “Power Collection”

During the Cold War, concepts such as the place of attorney and mobilization storage were general goods.

Now the army will again develop the ability to mobilize, and to test the system’s ability, the army plans a test of the mobilization site preparedness to take place at the end of April-May. An exercise with an important purpose says the army manager.

– We will come to terms with a number of slow processes, we will break the habitual patterns and move mental positions that we can do in a different way. We do not have to do as we have always done. The Swedish army is a mobilizing army and we need to be good at, says Jonny Lindfors, army manager.

Saint Göran

The operation has been named Sankt Göran and includes all war associations across the country. In practice, military bases must be ready to receive summoned soldiers, for example during heightened preparedness.

– All employed staff in the army will be involved in one way or another and very many of the conscripts will contribute to this. I want to achieve a power gathering in the army, I want us to clearly focus on moving the equipment and preparing to have as good mobilization preparedness as we can ever have.

Mobilization site preparedness is a prerequisite for the army to be able to mobilize, that is, soldiers take military bases. But the exercise itself is about weapons, clothing and vehicles being moved from various central storage to each military base.

Order and find out

Mobilization itself only takes place when the government decides on heightened preparedness. It is announced in the event of, for example, serious threats to the security of the state or in a direct military attack.

– The result I expect is a clear order and ready. A nice feeling in the stomach of the war union managers and good confidence. It is ultimately about creating self -confidence throughout the organization and knowing that we can do this, we have it, we are prepared. And that we have trained on it. That’s my goal.

How will Operation St. Göran be noticed to the public?

– Probably very little or nothing at all. Possibly you can experience more transport movement during certain periods, but I do not see any grand spectacle in front of me, concludes Jonny Lindfors.
