The 31-year-old man who requested permission to burn a Koran outside Iran’s embassy in Stockholm on Saturday says he “repented” and is withdrawing the application, reports SVT Nyheter.

The man also had plans to, in addition to the Koran, burn Iran’s flag, a picture of Iran’s leader and two doll heads outside the embassy. Now the application is no longer relevant.

– I repent. I have to respect Islam and I apologize to all Iranians, says the man to SVT.

The police had not yet approved the application when word came that it was being withdrawn.

Iran’s highest spiritual and political leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has demanded that Sweden extradite the people behind previous Koran actions in Stockholm. He has also claimed that the Swedish government is about to go to war with the Muslim world.
