This year, the Aniara prize goes to Hans Gunnarsson for the short story collection “Bormann i Bromma”, where, according to the jury, he continues to explore the dark side of the middle class. The justification emphasizes that “behind the villa knot, the banal evil stands on firm feet when the individual’s responsibility is dissolved in the power of the collective. In lustfully driven prose, Hans Gunnarsson tells about what can take place in the gaps that arise between people’s will and ability, between life’s everydayness and mystery .”

Gunnarsson debuted in 1996 with the collection of short stories “Behind glass” and has published about ten books. He has also written film scripts for, among others, “Ondskan” and “Pingpong-kingen”.

The Aniara prize was established in 1974 and is awarded annually to a Swedish-language author of fiction for adults. The prize sum is SEK 50,000.
