The amount of this aid has doubled and no income

Two years ago, its amount was 91.47 euros, but since last year it has increased to 200 euros.

You probably know someone around you, perhaps a teenager, who would benefit from this help. Like many financial boosts in France, this is paid by the Family Allowance Fund (CAF) to people who are eligible. This aid is all the more special as it facilitates access to training in animation. This help from CAF makes it possible to obtain the Bafa (the Certificate of Aptitude for Facilitator Duties).

This diploma, now accessible from the age of 16, offers many young people the opportunity to acquire their first professional experience, particularly in leisure centers or summer camps. But in recent years, the Bafa diploma was no longer as popular. The sector was especially struggling to recruit candidates. So, to revive the activity and attract new people to train, the government decided to put in place a much more substantial subsidy. Because one of the other obstacles for some was the price of training, which varies depending on the organization. In general, the cost ranges on average from 700 to 1000 euros (one part is dedicated to general training and the second finances the in-depth course).

To reduce this bill, candidates can count on financial aid, including that from CAF. Until two years ago, its amount was 91.47 euros, but since last year it has increased to 200 euros thanks to state funding. This aid is also paid without means conditions. To be eligible, the person must have completed the last in-depth or qualification session. If this is the case, she must then make the request, within a maximum of three months, directly on her CAF website, in the “My steps/Request for a service” tab. Please note that CAF assistance is increased by 15.24 euros if the candidate follows training focused on welcoming young children during their in-depth training course. Other aid, which can be combined, also exists locally and at territorial level.

With this boost of 200 euros, the animation sector was able to attract new candidates. In 2022, the authorities recorded a sharp increase in the number of Bafas issued, of more than 37% compared to 2021. In total, 46,239 Bafas were granted, while in 2019, there were barely 43 000 diplomas. In 2023, the trend was also confirmed: nearly 50,000 young people won the Bafa.
