Caf has formalized the amount that it will pay in a few months.
This is valuable financial assistance eagerly awaited by three million families each year. If it is not yet time for the summer holidays and, even less, for the next school year, good news has already been announced for these Caf beneficiaries: the Back to School Allowance (ARS) is going well increase and the new amount that will be paid in a few months is already known.
The information did not make any noise but the Family Allowance Fund formalized the amount granted to eligible households. This “bonus” – as it is also called in common parlance – should make it possible to amortize the cost of purchasing supplies and other equipment (clothes, bags, etc.) for the coming school year. Faced with the permanent rise in prices, its revaluation is based on the inflation of the previous year, in order to follow the price evolution curve and not harm the beneficiaries. It will be +4.6% for this year.
Thus, in 2024, the amount of the Back to School Allowance will be as follows, depending on the age of the child:
- From 6 to 10 years: 416.40 euros (+18.31 euros compared to 2023)
- From 11 to 14 years old: 439.38 euros (+19.33 euros)
- From 15 to 18 years old: 454.60 euros (+19.99 euros)
Not everyone receives ARS. This is only paid based on income received two years previously. Thus, to be able to receive aid in 2024, the person(s) declaring responsibility for the child to Caf must not have had, in 2022, a reference tax income (RFR) greater than 25,775 euros for a dependent child, 31,723 euros for two children or 37,671 euros for three children.
Not sure if you are eligible? It is very simple. To find out, simply take your tax notice for the year 2022 and look at the bottom of the document at the line “Reference tax income”. If this falls within the ceiling limits not to be exceeded, then you will receive the Back to School Allowance. There is also (almost) no action to take if you are already a beneficiary of Caf: the organization is responsible for granting you the check automatically if your child is between 6 and 15 years old. If he is between 16 and 18 years old, it is up to you to request help from the Caf.
The official date of payment of the ARS has not yet been revealed. However, every year, this happens around mid-August. This year, taking into account the calendar, the payment should take place on Tuesday August 20. It should also take place earlier, at the beginning of August, for Mayotte and Reunion.
