President Macky Sall had announced, the law of general amnesty for “ facts relating to political demonstrations » occurring since 2021 was adopted by the Council of Ministers. During these days of protests, hundreds of people were arrested, dozens died and significant material damage was caused.

But before coming into force, this law must still be voted on in the National Assembly. For this, no date has been announced. This law, which aims at appeasement, is not unanimous in any case, neither in the opposition camp nor in that of the majority.

In the council of ministers, the president of Senegal also announced that he will receive the report of the national dialogue during a hearing scheduled for Monday March 4, then he will refer the matter to the Constitutional Council to obtain its opinion on the recommendations of the dialogue.
