An ambulance that was on its way to an alarm got the wrong coordinates and went to the wrong address, in an incident where a distressed man died of his injuries, reports P4 Sörmland.

The man had been pinned under a tree and it took 29 minutes before the ambulance was on the scene of the accident.

– The address information between SOS and the healthcare emergency center made it difficult to locate on the map and that is one of the problems, that we use different systems. That is probably one of the reasons why it went wrong, says Carina Axén, director of operations at the ambulance service in Region Sörmland to the radio channel.

Region Sörmland has Lex Maria reported the incident to the Inspectorate for Care and Care (Ivo) and also investigated the incident.

– We must demand more from SOS that we must have a uniform and the same system when we hand over the positioning so that there can be no mistakes like this, says Axén.
