Some medicines for feverish children are largely out of stock in the country. These are liquid painkillers with ibuprofen and paracetamol that are taken orally and are important mainly for small children who have difficulty ingesting the medicine in other ways.
Several regions report the shortage. It is one of many medicines that have run out in the recently worsened shortage situation in Sweden. There is also low availability of the alternatives – tablets that melt in the mouth and suppositories, and in some places it can be completely out of stock.
The Swedish Medicines Agency describes the situation as worrying, but urges parents not to hoard medicines.
