Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft is scheduled to start its journey towards the International Space Station at 19:30 Finnish time.

The aim is to launch the Starliner spacecraft of the aircraft manufacturer Boeing today for its first manned flight aboard the Atlas V rocket manufactured by the United Launch Alliance company. Attempts are being made to launch Starliner from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The manned flight will be accompanied by two NASA astronauts, and the aim is to dock with the International Space Station.

If the launch is successful, NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration under the US federal government, may grant Boeing the authority to conduct regular flights to the space station. At the moment only SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsules can make flights.

The launch of the spacecraft was already attempted once in May. At that time, the launch of the space capsule had to be postponed due to a technical fault.
