The highway near the airfield was closed because parts of the planes were flying onto the road.

In Dallas, Texas, USA, two planes from World War II collided with each other on Saturday at an air show.

FOX 4 News (switch to another service)in’s journalist posted a video of the collision between the machines on Twitter. The video shows how the planes appear to have broken into pieces from the force of the impact and then caught fire after falling to the ground.

The death toll has not been made public.

According to the media, the planes belong to the Commemorative Air Force organization. CNN (switch to another service) says the organization’s leader by Hank Coates told reporters that he could not release the number or names of those on board until the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTBS) gave permission to do so.

According to the authorities, the planes were a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and a Bell P-63 Kingcobra. CNN reports Coates as saying that the B-17 usually has four or five crew members and the P-63 is a single-pilot fighter. According to Coates, the planes in question had a “normal” crew on board.

The four-engined B-17 played a significant role in aerial combat during World War II and is one of the most produced bombers ever produced. The P-63 was used in combat only by Soviet forces.

According to the US media, the three-day Wings Over Dallas event has now been suspended and the remaining shows have been cancelled. In addition, several media reports that the police have informed that the highway near the flight area is closed because parts of the planes were flying onto the road.
