The age limit for shopping at Systembolaget should be lowered to 18 years.
That was decided by the Center Party at the party meeting in Örebro.
– It is above all a decision of principle, says CUF’s chairman Caroline von Seth.
The Center Party’s general meeting voted on Sunday to lower the age limit at Systembolaget from 20 to 18 years.
The issue, which the Party Board supported, has been driven by the party’s student and youth union and will now be the line C will bring.
Caroline von Seth, chairman of the Center Party’s youth association, is satisfied after the vote. She thinks the change is important for two reasons.
“Should be able to make own decisions”
– Firstly, we think it is important that we have a uniform legal age, that when you are 18 and of legal age you should be able to make your own decisions and thereby also buy alcohol, she tells TV4 Nyheterna.
– But also for the reason that otherwise these 18-19 year olds find alcohol in other ways, for example through vodka buses and the like. Then it is better that it takes place through Systembolaget, continues the CUF chairman.
According to Caroline von Seth, the proposal had “fairly broad support” within the party.
– I think there is broad support among the public as well, she says.
TT writes that several of the speakers in the debate were against the decision and that the alcohol debut must be postponed – not brought forward.

The decisions outline the policy for the next two years, until the next general meeting:
Lowered limit for buying alcohol at Systembolaget to 18 years.
Systembolaget’s monopoly must continue to be protected. Investigate the introduction of so-called consumption rooms for drug abuse according to the Norwegian model.
Work for a ban on bottom trawling.
Temporarily stop all removal of herring/steaming and cod by pelagic industrial trawling from Swedish fishing waters.
Investments in trunk lines for rail traffic must be planned for a maximum of approximately 250 km/h and freight trains.
Ensure the construction of new trunk lines between Stockholm and Malmö and Gothenburg and Malmö, respectively. The construction of Oslo-Stockholm and the Northern main line must also be prioritized.
The Center Party shall not divide the movement but continue as a party to stand in the church elections.
A new parental code must be introduced so that children can legally have more than two guardians.
The patient fee for those who seek care after sexual violence must be removed.
