Employees in Karlskoga municipality received a value check of SEK 500 as a Christmas present in 2023. At the same time, it was decided that no Christmas parties or other activities would be arranged by the municipality. But an examination of the school administration’s purchases shows that this decision was defied, reports The KT Courier.

Paid for New Year’s revue and restaurant
Among the invoices are restaurant visits, tickets to a New Year’s revue, gift cards and venue rent for a Christmas party. The school principal Anita The kettun says that there is no money set aside in the municipality for this and that each headmaster sets his own budget.

The principal: “Should have canceled”
A primary school principal says that they organized a Christmas party for their staff despite the municipal management’s decision. The headmaster believes that the party should have been canceled but that it is now too late.
– We had already planned for it and we hadn’t had anything else properly in the way of comfort. But now in retrospect, we absolutely should have canceled when the message from the municipal management came, says the principal to the newspaper.
Operations manager Maria Lily says that in some cases a small extra contribution has been granted to encourage the staff. Lilja believes that the routines must be checked and that participant lists and purpose must be stated as a basis for the invoices in the future.
