It all started with Finland-Norway, the semi-finals of the Floorball World Championships last December. Or actually about betting traffic before that.
There were three important players in the Finnish national team that wanted to spare for future matches. Within the team, it was known that players would not play in the match. They were still marked in the lineup.
Veikkaus had an open betting destination where there was a chance to bet between two Finnish players, which of them would score more goals in Norway. The alternative was also to bet the draw, that is, that both players finish as many hits.
It was precisely for the drawing that was particularly drawn. Later it turned out that neither of the players in the betting destination played a minute in the match.
There was also a chance to bet in the same match whether the Oilers at the club level scored more goals than Classic players.
The chains of the playing were just missing the Oilers players, and on behalf of the Classic players, there was an exceptionally actively bet.
Based on this, Veikkaus’ researchers came to a conclusion: Insider information about the team’s player situation had been leaked outside the team and was used in betting.
This is always a stopping and surprising situation.
Mikko Lahti, Veikkaus Safety and Risk Management Director
The researchers also found out who had made exceptional bets mentioned above. There were several league players and employees outside the national team.
– There are more than ten people in total. On Tuesday we have submitted a information package to SUEK (Ethical Center for Finnish Sports), which will continue research, Veikkaus’ Safety and Risk Management Director Mikko Lahti tells Sports.
The special activities of individual bettors also attracted the attention of Veikkaus.
Many people with exceptional bets made clearly more money than they usually play. Some had previously played Veikkaus games other than betting.
The league -in -chief in the reason
The investigation that started in the World Cup took new rounds later in the spring, when Veikkaus drew attention to the men’s F-League’s third semi-finals. In the mid -April match, Tampere Classic and Seinäjoki Game Brothers met.
Veikkaus’ experts noticed that the clear underdog SPV was particularly attracted before the line -up of the match was published.
Subsequently, it became clear that the Classic lineup lacked more key players due to a sudden sickness wave, including both goalkeepers.
Classic’s coaching had to alert the team the night before the match to finish his career and have been the club host of the club’s match Oskar Sillanpää.
-On Monday night, there was a call that there was secret information now, neither goalkeeper is in order, if you are ready to jump to the finish if the invitation is, Sillanpää told about her quick alarm on the background of the match To the skull site.
Despite the changes to the assembly, Sillanpää and partners managed to beat SPV 4-3.
Veikkaus said that more people who bet on the matches had a clear connection to Classic.
– The biggest drawback is that insider information has been misused here. However, I am not going to speculate on what kind of measures the union or other parties should take now, says Veikkaus’ security boss Mikko Lahti.
It is not in Veikkaus’ information that the players or staff of the Finnish-Norwegian or Classic-SPV matches had bet on those matches in question.
Wider
The investigation that began with two matches led Veikkaus’ experts to the trace of a wider fraud.
Veikkaus’ data analysis showed that at least about a dozen men’s F-League players, employees, or otherwise close-up, who had been attracted to the league matches in the previous two seasons. It is prohibited in agreements and rules.
-With more detailed data analyzes, we found that one player had made very exceptional anti-rules. During last season alone, he had used significant sums for this, says Mikko Lahti.
Veikkaus does not reveal how much of a suspicious destination was bet, but the individual bets were at a maximum of 500 euros. According to Veikkaus, last season’s suspicious and forbidden floorball bets were made by tens of thousands of euros.
– This is always a stopping and surprising situation. Fortunately, these are extremely rare cases in Finnish betting, says Mikko Lahti.
Veikkaus has provided the information he has collected to the Ethics Center for Finnish Sports to Suek, which will continue to investigate the cases. If SUEK suspects the crime in cases, it may contact the police.
