Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 is out tonight, on February 25, 2023 at 8:15 p.m. on Sat.1 shown and prepares you for the grand finale as the penultimate film in the fantasy series. The 7th Harry Potter film left a lot out of the original book. What weighs particularly heavily as an omission, however, is that Death of Wormtailbecause Voldemort’s perhaps most important henchman here cheated out of his final big twist becomes.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hides Peter Pettigrew’s dramatic fantasy ending

Peter Pettigrew (portrayed by Timothy Spall) stars in the Harry Potter fantasy franchise an important role over several parts: In Part 3 we learn that he was one of the Marauders alongside Sirius, Lupine and Harry’s father James. As part of this quartet of friends, it was he who betrayed Harry’s parents to Voldemort, causing them to perish. In Part 4, Wormtail even helps the Dark Lord return physically by cutting off his hand, later being rewarded with a new magical one.

Wormtail for the last time in Harry Potter 7.1

Disguised as Ron’s rat Scabbers, animagus Peter Pettigrew has actually been there from the start. Despite it the 7th film doesn’t bring its story to an end. Because in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 1 we get to see Peter Pettigrew for the last time in the Malfoy mansion: When he enters the basement where Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and Co. are locked up, Wormtail is hit from behind by Dobby’s magic and falls over. After that we never see him again.

Became Wormtail drugged? did he escape Or even dead? After his unexplained disappearance, some fans of the fantasy film series wondered whether the actually kind-hearted house elf Dobby had turned into a cold-blooded murderer by the way. With a bit of logic, it could still be argued that Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) may have blamed Wormtail for the prisoner escape and therefore killed him off-screen, although the 8th film doesn’t detail Peter Pettigrew’s fate anymore. while has Wormtail’s story actually has a very drastic ending.

Tragic Harry Potter Character: Wormtail actually has a really scary death

Remains in the original novel* of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows no doubt about Pettigrew’s demise. There, Wormtail goes into the Malfoy basement, is attacked by the prisoners, and attempts to strangle Harry Potter. However, when Harry reminds him that he once saved his life (to Sirius and Lupin), Wormtail hesitates for a moment…and pays with his life.

Peter Pettigrew is strangled by his own silver hand, Voldemort’s gift, when he shows weakness or pity for a moment. The moment his loyalty to his master falters, the enchanted hand Voldemort gave him in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as a reward for his loyalty turns against him.

This closes the circle of Wormtail’s story in the best fantasy manner with the payment of a life debt. Harry once prevented his assassination. Now Harry survives while Peter Pettigrew dies. Which is all the more tragic because it is feelings of sympathy (scruples, if only for a few seconds) that seal his fate.

Arguably too scary for younger fantasy audiences, Wormtail’s book Death was omitted from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 1.
