No new Star Wars series without guest appearances: After The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett numerous familiar Star Wars characters brought back and surprised with unexpected guest stars, Obi-Wan Kenobi continues this tradition. Ahead of the start of Episode 6, we’ve collected the best cameos of the series so far.
Attention, follow spoiler!
While we speculated before the start of the series that young Leia might appear, it quickly became apparent that the princess played by Vivien Lyra Blair was a integral part of the ensemble is. The following list therefore only shows characters that tend to appear on the fringes of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
Best Guest Appearances in Obi-Wan Kenobi – 7th place: Benny Safdie as Nari

Benny Safdie as Nari in Obi-Wan Kenobi
When the cast of Obi-Wan Kenobi was announced, one name in particular caused a stir: Benny Safdie. The acting part of the Safdie brothers definitely belongs in the casting category of Werner Herzog in The Mandalorian and provides a breath of fresh air in the Star Wars universe. As Nari, he seeks Obi-Wan’s help and becomes the bitter emblem of what happens if the broken Jedi continues to hide.
Best Guest Appearances in Obi-Wan Kenobi – #6: Zach Braff as Freck

Zach Braff as Freck in Obi-Wan Kenobi
Probably nobody had this cameo on their screen: Suddenly Zach Braff marches through the picture as a mole-like alien named Freck and offers his help to Obi-Wan and Leia. However, it quickly becomes clear that the friendly gentleman feels very connected to the empire. Although Freck is introduced as a supposedly harmless Comic Relief character, he leaves an extremely uncomfortable feeling.
Best Guest Appearances in Obi-Wan Kenobi – 5th place: Ming Qiu as Minas Velti

Ming Qiu as Minas Velti in Obi-Wan Kenobi
A nice surprise at the beginning of the series: In the Order 66 flashback, Ming Qiu appears as Jedi Master Minas Velti and faces the clone troopers who are storming the Jedi Temple. Qiu has acted as Ming-Na Wen’s stunt double in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, and is also involved in the upcoming Ahsoka series. Now she’s got her own big Star Wars moment, too.
Best Guest Appearances in Obi-Wan Kenobi – #4 Jimmy Smits as Bail Organa

Jimmy Smits as Bail Organa in Obi Wan Kenobi
Jimmy Smits’ return to the Obi-Wan series as Bail Organa after his appearances in the prequel trilogy and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story may have been one of the series’ worst-kept secrets. Still, he proves to be a strong presence when he’s a concerned father, risking everything to save the Leia while exuding an unexpected calm and level-headedness.
Best Guest Appearances in Obi-Wan Kenobi – #3: Simone Kessel as Breha Organa

Simone Kessell as Breha Organa in Obi-Wan Kenobi
The scenes with Simone Kessell, who takes over the part of Breha Organa for the first time, are a bit stronger. Star Wars certainly has no shortage of father figures. It is all the nicer that the series introduces Leia in interaction with her (surrogate) mother. In a short time, the relationship between the two is wonderfully sketched, which is also important when the question of Leia’s real mother later comes up.
Best Guest Appearances in Obi-Wan Kenobi – 2nd place: Temuera Morrison as the clone trooper

Temuera Morrison as the clone trooper in Obi-Wan Kenobi
As a homeless clone trooper, Temuera Morrison sits on the streets of Daiyu asking Obi-Wan for a few credits while the stormtroopers in their shiny armor just walk past him and don’t look. The fall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire is deftly told here, not to mention the shock on Obi-Wan’s face that brings back Cody’s memories.
Best Guest Appearances in Obi-Wan Kenobi – #1: Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars

Joel Edgerton as Uncle Owen in Obi-Wan Kenobi
In the tired but angry eyes of Joel Edgerton’s Uncle Owen, a humble farmer comes to life who wants nothing to do with all the great Star Wars stories, but ends up being the one who faces evil on the open road during Obi-Wan is hiding. The conflict between the two protectors of Luke is one of the most touching aspects of the entire series.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi Finale will be released on June 22, 2022 on Disney+.
